About Us

Our Story

The Founder and CEO of AgroSCORE observed that lack of markets is the major constraint for sustainable, efficient, scalable and resilient food production systems for smallholder farmers in Zimbabwe. Both government and NGOs are working with smallholder farmers on promising and impactful innovative agroecological initiatives that are responsive to climate change and droughts, but large markets have not fully embraced this reality. New sustainable technologies for smallholder farmers such as conservation agriculture are being introduced in an environment where market linkages are not favorable and in contexts where stallholder farmers practicing such agroecologically sound farming practices are not acknowledged or rewarded fairly through markets.

Most agribusinesses are built around a few large-scale suppliers yet approximately 85% of Zimbabwe’s farms are managed by small-scale producers.

This inspired the formation of AgroSCORE, an agriculture social enterprise that connects smallholder farmers to markets, the private sector and buyers. We believe that our market solutions can help smallholder farmers, buyers and the private sector establish trading relationships that are both sustainable, durable and profitable.

Community Impact

Thousands of smallholder farmers become empowered producers of the world’s food:

Food security and livelihood impact

Access to agricultural markets by smallholder farmers is essential to increase diversified agricultural production and farmers’ incomes. Our work creates a competitive and transparent market environment that supports fair, equitable and sustainable food systems that improve the quality of life of farmers and meet the needs of buyers and consumers. Putting money in the hands of smallholder farmers enhances their ability to purchase food, social services and invest in asserts.

Care for creation/Environmental stewardship

Farmers and buyers have an important role in building sustainable local food systems that value the health and sustainability of the land and water resources. By buying from our farmers, buyers and industry are encouraging spontaneous adoption of market-driven sustainable food and seed systems and environmental stewardship. Our virtual plant doctors and agronomists help farmers increase crop productivity through sustainable agroecological practices.

Women empowerment

Women play a critical and potentially transformative role in agricultural growth in Zimbabwe. However, they face persistent obstacles and economic constraints that limit their inclusion in agriculture. Our market solutions and virtual extension services enable women to access information and get the best out of their crop. This increases their ability to reinvest in agriculture and improves their economic status.

Giving back

We believe in giving back to the vulnerable communities faced by social and development constraints. A portion of our profits is invested in improving sustainable food and seed systems in food-insecure communities. Through our virtual plant clinic, farmers have access to free diagnosis and advise on crop pest and diseases. Our agronomists are on call to answer any questions farmers might have for free.
